How much does an Instagram username cost?
Instagram usernames cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to over $500,000, driven almost entirely by length and cleanliness. A single-letter handle can fetch $100,000 to $500,000; a clean 4-letter handle runs $5,000 to $75,000; a common first name is around $30,000. You can’t buy one on Instagram itself (it violates Meta’s Terms), so premium handles are acquired through official trademark, impersonation, or negotiated-release channels. Essentras handles that for a flat $30,000, regardless of the handle’s market value, with a money-back guarantee if we don’t get the handle transferred to you.
There is no official price list for Instagram usernames, Meta doesn’t sell them, and private resale violates its Terms. So “cost” means one of two things: the open-market price a current holder might accept (wildly variable, and against platform rules to transact), or the acquisition fee a compliant agency charges to get the handle the legitimate way. This guide covers both.
