Best AI Visibility Tools of 2026
What each tool costs, what it actually tracks, and what it still leaves you to do.
Profound has the deepest engine coverage but publishes no price. Peec AI at $95/mo is the strongest published self-serve option, Otterly.ai at $29/mo the cheapest, and Semrush and Ahrefs bundle AI tracking into an SEO suite you may already pay for. All nine measure. None secures the citations they recommend.
Why choose Essentras?
Essentras is not a tracker, and it does not try to outscore Profound or Peec on engine coverage. It runs a live measured corpus of real answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek and Grok, published at /ai-check, and then sells the source material those answers draw on: named publication placements, Wikipedia and Knowledge Panel work, review-profile work, each priced per item before you buy. The deliverable is a confirmed URL on an outlet you chose, not a seat in a dashboard.
The destination is named before you pay
You pick the outlet from the catalog, see its price, turnaround and link policy, and receive that URL. No blind retainer, no placeholder list.
We publish how we measure
The /ai-check corpus is real answers from six models, updated and open to read. The method is checkable rather than a proprietary score.
You can buy one unit
No seats, no prompt allowance, no annual prepay and no notice window. One placement is a complete purchase with nothing to cancel.

Published list pricing, checked 4 October 2026 on each vendor's own site. Vendors change pricing and add-ons without notice, and quote-only vendors negotiate per deal, so confirm at the source before you buy. Anything we could not verify is marked, not estimated.
Most people comparing these tools have already seen the chart. The problem is not measurement, it is that every platform here measures roughly the same four things and then returns a recommendation to earn citations from more authoritative third-party sources, which is the one task software cannot perform on your behalf. Pricing compounds it: Profound's public page showed only a free trial and a custom Enterprise quote on 4 October 2026, and several enterprise tiers across the category publish no figure at all, so sizing a budget means booking calls first. Consolidation says the rest. Adobe closed its roughly $1.9B acquisition of Semrush on 28 April 2026 and Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026, which points to visibility measurement becoming a feature inside a suite rather than a standalone strategy. The honest gap is not a better dashboard, it is someone doing the citation and entity work every dashboard keeps pointing at.
How we compared
9 providers were scored against the same criteria, on published list pricing read off each vendor's own site on 4 October 2026. 63 vendor pricing pages were checked across this cluster.
- 01Is the price published on the vendor's own pricing page today, or does learning it require a demo call? Profound, and the Enterprise tier of almost every other vendor here, is quote-only.
- 02How many AI engines are covered on the cheapest tier you can actually buy, and what the rest cost as add-ons. Peec caps self-serve at 3 of 6 models; Otterly's base tiers cover 4 and charge separately for Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude.
- 03How many prompts or credits the plan includes per period, what an extra block costs, and how many user seats are included before per-seat fees apply. Semrush and Ahrefs ship one seat and charge $40 to $100/mo for each additional user.
- 04Exit terms in writing: monthly cancellation versus a prepaid annual term, the notice window before auto-renewal, and whether unused time is refunded. Peec, Otterly, Writesonic and HubSpot all state that prepaid fees are not refunded.
- 05Whether the product changes anything outside your own domain, or only reports on it. Measurement tells you a competitor was cited instead; it does not place the article, build the entity, or fix the review profile that caused it.
Deliberately excluded. Resellers of providers already listed, services not taking new customers at the time of review, and anything whose core promise would require breaking a platform's terms of service.
Essentras sells services in this category, so this page is not a neutral review. Every competitor figure is published list pricing you can check on the vendor's own site, and the case for choosing a competitor over us is stated on every entry rather than left out.

The numbers behind this page
Every comparison on this site rests on two things we recompute rather than claim: the live catalog of what we actually sell, and a running study of what answer engines actually say. Both are linked below so you can check them.

FAQ
AI Visibility Tools, FAQ
How much do AI visibility tools cost?▾
Published entry prices in this set run from $29/mo for Otterly.ai Lite to $295/mo for AthenaHQ Starter, with Writesonic at $79 billed annually, Peec AI at $95, Ahrefs Lite at $129, Semrush at $139 and Scrunch Starter at $250 billed annually. Profound publishes no price above its 7-day free trial. Add-ons move the real number: extra engines, extra prompts, extra credits and extra seats are billed separately on most of these plans.
What is the cheapest AI visibility tool?▾
HubSpot's AI Search Grader is free and needs no account, but it is a one-time snapshot across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini rather than ongoing tracking. For continuous tracking, Otterly.ai Lite at $29/mo is the cheapest published plan, though it covers 15 prompts a month across 4 engines, and independent reviews repeatedly flag that allowance as too small, which pushes buyers to the $189 Standard tier or a $99/mo prompt add-on.
What are the best Profound alternatives?▾
Peec AI at $95/mo and Otterly.ai at $29/mo are the obvious self-serve swaps, since both publish list prices and need no sales call. AthenaHQ Starter at $295/mo tracks 11 or more models on a credit meter. Scrunch Starter is $250/mo billed annually. If you already pay for an SEO suite, Ahrefs bundles Brand Radar from $129/mo and Semrush adds daily prompt tracking from $199/mo.
Do AI visibility tools actually improve AI visibility?▾
They measure it. Every vendor on this page describes its own product as monitoring, analytics or recommendations, and Peec, Otterly and AthenaHQ reviewers all report the same gap: the dashboard shows where a brand is missing but does not close it. Writesonic drafts outreach copy and Profound stages agent-written content for human approval, but neither secures the third-party publication, the Wikipedia article or the Knowledge Panel itself.
How do you get cited by ChatGPT?▾
Models answer from sources they can read, so citation follows from being present and consistent across third-party material rather than from anything you publish on your own site. In practice that means coverage on outlets the models draw on, a reliable entity record, and review profiles that match. No supplier can guarantee a citation, because each model vendor decides what it cites. Essentras publishes its measurement method at /ai-check rather than scoring itself.
Can I cancel an AI visibility subscription at any time?▾
On monthly billing, usually yes. On annual billing, usually no. Peec, Otterly, Writesonic and Ahrefs all state in their own terms that prepaid fees are not refunded for unused time, Peec and Writesonic require 30 days' notice before renewal, Semrush limits refunds to a one-time 7-day window on an initial annual purchase, and HubSpot says a subscription cannot be cancelled mid-term at all.
What is the difference between GEO, AEO and LLM SEO?▾
Very little in practice. Generative engine optimization, answer engine optimization and LLM SEO are three labels for the same goal: being present and accurately described when an AI system answers a question about your market. Vendors use the terms interchangeably, and the tools on this page sell broadly the same four metrics under all three names. The work that moves any of them is third-party sources, not the label.
