How to create a Wikipedia page

The order matters: confirm notability, gather independent sources, write neutrally, disclose any paid relationship, then submit through Articles for Creation. Wikipedia is built by volunteers who apply strict rules, so the page only survives if it rests on genuine independent coverage and reads like an encyclopedia, not an advertisement. You cannot skip the notability step, it is the one that decides everything.

The steps

01

Confirm notability first

Before writing a word, verify you have significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. If you do not, the page will be declined. This is where most attempts fail.

02

Gather and organize sources

Collect the independent secondary sources (major journalism, books, analysis). You will cite these throughout. Press releases and your own site do not count.

03

Create an account and a draft

Register on Wikipedia and create the article in the Draft namespace. Disclose any paid or conflict-of-interest relationship on the talk page.

04

Write neutrally

Use plain, encyclopedic, neutral language (WP:NPOV). No marketing tone, no superlatives. Every claim should be backed by a citation.

05

Submit through Articles for Creation

Submit the draft for volunteer review via AfC. A reviewer will accept, decline with feedback, or reject. Address feedback and resubmit if declined.

FAQ

Creating a Wikipedia page, FAQ

What makes you notable enough for a Wikipedia page?

Wikipedia notability means significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of you. In plain terms: several substantial articles where journalists or authors chose to write about you, not press releases, your own site, or routine announcements. If that coverage does not exist yet, no agency can ethically create a lasting page. We assess this honestly first.

How long does it take to get a Wikipedia page approved?

After a well-sourced draft is submitted through Articles for Creation, volunteer review can take anywhere from days to a few months, depending on the backlog. No one can pay to expedite the volunteer queue. A strong, properly sourced draft is reviewed faster than a weak one.

Can you pay someone to create a Wikipedia page?

Yes, paid editing is allowed, but only if it is disclosed. Wikipedia's Terms of Use require anyone paid to contribute to disclose their employer and client. What you cannot do is pay to guarantee a page exists or survives, because unpaid volunteers make that call against notability rules. Essentras does the compliant work and discloses on every contribution.

Why do Wikipedia pages get rejected or deleted?

The top reasons are lack of notability (no independent secondary sources), promotional tone, sources that are press releases or company pages, and undisclosed paid editing. A page can also be deleted years later if someone challenges its notability. Building on genuine independent coverage from the start is the only durable approach.

Can you update or fix an existing Wikipedia page?

We can propose corrections to an existing page the compliant way: by disclosing the conflict of interest, posting requested edits on the article's talk page, and letting independent editors implement them. We never edit a page about our own client directly without disclosure.

Qualify, but short on time?

We do the sourcing, writing, and disclosed submission. Money-back guarantee if we don't publish your page.
