Agent recipe
“I want a Google Knowledge Panel. Am I eligible, how long does it take, and what does it cost?”
The agent asks 11 multiple-choice questions, gets a score out of 100 with every gap, and gives the free route first. Only a strong profile also gets the service and its price.
Responses captured 18 Oct 2026; the service step was generated from the code that day and matches the live API response checked on 19 Oct 2026. Prices change, so the agent must re-quote before it shows a total.

The steps
Ask the 11 questions
The checker takes 11 fixed answers: who the panel is for, what Google shows today and 9 questions about sources. Never a name or a link. With some answers sent, it returns the questions still open.
MCP tool call: check_knowledge_panel_readiness{ "subject": "person" }Same call over RESTcurl -X POST https://essentras.com/api/agent/v1/check/knowledge-panel-readiness \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"subject":"person"}'Real response, trimmed. Captured 18 Oct 2026{ "status": "needs_answers", "summary": "Answer every question to see your score. Answered 1 of 11.", "answered": 1, "total": 11, "needs": [ { "field": "state", "options": [{"id": "none"}, {"id": "unclaimed"}, {"id": "claimed"}, {"id": "wrong"}] }, { "field": "coverage", "options": [{"id": "c0"}, {"id": "c1"}, {"id": "c3"}, {"id": "c6"}] }, { "field": "quality", "options": [{"id": "q0"}, {"id": "q1"}, {"id": "q2"}, {"id": "q3"}] }, {"field": "wikipedia", "options": [{"id": "w1"}, {"id": "w0"}]}, {"field": "wikidata", "options": [{"id": "d2"}, {"id": "d1"}, {"id": "d0"}]}, {"field": "home", "options": [{"id": "h2"}, {"id": "h1"}, {"id": "h0"}]}, {"field": "profiles", "options": [{"id": "p2"}, {"id": "p1"}, {"id": "p0"}]}, {"field": "records", "options": [{"id": "r2"}, {"id": "r1"}, {"id": "r0"}]}, {"field": "demand", "options": [{"id": "s2"}, {"id": "s1"}, {"id": "s0"}]}, {"field": "unique", "options": [{"id": "u2"}, {"id": "u1"}, {"id": "u0"}]} ] }What to read: Each needs entry also carries the question text and a label for every option.
Profile A: a founder with national coverage
The founder has 3 to 5 independent articles in national outlets, a home page with structured data, matching profiles and no Wikipedia article. The checker returns the score, each gap with its next action and a service block.
MCP tool call: check_knowledge_panel_readiness{ "subject": "person", "state": "none", "coverage": "c3", "quality": "q3", "wikipedia": "w0", "wikidata": "d1", "home": "h2", "profiles": "p2", "records": "r1", "demand": "s1", "unique": "u2" }Same call over RESTcurl -X POST https://essentras.com/api/agent/v1/check/knowledge-panel-readiness \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"subject":"person","state":"none","coverage":"c3","quality":"q3","wikipedia":"w0","wikidata":"d1","home":"h2","profiles":"p2","records":"r1","demand":"s1","unique":"u2"}'Real response, trimmed. Disclose any paid relationship." }, { "question": "coverage", "gap": "Too little independent coverage", "points_to_gain": 5, "next_action": "Earn articles mainly about you on sites with editorial staff, starting with trade outlets in your field, so they restate the facts on your Entity Home." } ], "next_step": { "primary": { "label": "Get the Individual panel, $650", "url": "https://essentras.com/services/google-knowledge-panel/start?tier=individual" } }, "decides": "Google decides, and its stated policy is not to create panels manually. A refund can be guaranteed; the panel cannot.", "service": { "name": "Google Knowledge Panel (Individual)", "price": {"label": "$650"}, "offered_as": "main_next_step" } }What to read: score, band.range, then gaps (5 returned, top 3 shown). service.offered_as is main_next_step; decides says Google makes the call.
Profile B: a new company with no independent coverage
The company has only press releases and its own posts, no home page with structured data and no records. The band is not yet and service is null: no service can make a panel appear without sources.
MCP tool call: check_knowledge_panel_readiness{ "subject": "business", "state": "none", "coverage": "c0", "quality": "q1", "wikipedia": "w0", "wikidata": "d0", "home": "h0", "profiles": "p1", "records": "r0", "demand": "s0", "unique": "u1" }Same call over RESTcurl -X POST https://essentras.com/api/agent/v1/check/knowledge-panel-readiness \ -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"subject":"business","state":"none","coverage":"c0","quality":"q1","wikipedia":"w0","wikidata":"d0","home":"h0","profiles":"p1","records":"r0","demand":"s0","unique":"u1"}'Real response, trimmed. Captured 18 Oct 2026{ "checked": "2026-10-15", "status": "complete", "summary": "Readiness score 11 out of 100: Not yet: build sources first.", "score": 11, "out_of": 100, "band": { "id": "notyet", "title": "Not yet: build sources first", "range": {"min": 0, "max": 34} }, "gaps": [ {"question": "coverage", "gap": "Too little independent coverage", "points_to_gain": 20}, {"question": "home", "gap": "No Entity Home with structured data", "points_to_gain": 15}, { "question": "quality", "gap": "No independent editorial coverage yet", "points_to_gain": 11 } ], "next_step": { "primary": { "label": "Start with sources: the free plan", "url": "https://essentras.com/guides/how-to-get-a-google-knowledge-panel#build-plan" }, "secondary": { "label": "Free authority audit", "url": "https://essentras.com/tools/authority-audit" } }, "service": null, "checkout_note": null }What to read: next_step.primary is the free plan, next_step.secondary the free authority audit. The agent offers no purchase.
Price the serviceService step
For a strong profile the agent prices the service. quote_service takes the id and an optional tier, and returns every tier, the refund terms, who decides and start_url for the tier asked.
MCP tool call: quote_service{ "id": "google-knowledge-panel", "tier": "individual" }Same call over RESTcurl "https://essentras.com/api/agent/v1/services/google-knowledge-panel?\ tier=individual"Service response, trimmed. Generated from the code on 18 Oct 2026, identical to the live API on 19 Oct 2026{ "id": "google-knowledge-panel", "name": "Google Knowledge Panel", "start_url": "https://essentras.com/services/google-knowledge-panel/start?tier=individual&utm_source=ai_agent&utm_medium=agent_api&utm_content=quote_service", "price": {"amount": 650, "label": "from $650", "basis": "from"}, "options": [ {"tier": "individual", "price": {"label": "$650"}}, {"tier": "business", "price": {"label": "$1,200"}}, {"tier": "bundle", "price": {"label": "$1,395 (list $1,850)"}} ], "terms": "Pay today. If we take you on and your panel does not go live, you get every dollar back.", "decides": "Google decides whether to show a panel.", "free_check": {"mcp_tool": "check_knowledge_panel_readiness"}, "how_to_buy": "start_url is the page where the buyer reviews the service and pays. The agent never pays." }What to read: options lists the 3 tiers; start_url carries the tier asked.
What the checker returned for 4 profiles
| Profile | Score | Band | Service returned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Founder, strong sources | 72 | Strong candidate | Individual $650, main next step |
| Company, strong sources | 72 | Strong candidate | Business $1,200, main next step |
| Founder, some gaps | 40 | Close, with specific gaps | Individual $650, alternative to the free plan |
| New company, no coverage | 11 | Not yet: build sources first | None, free plan first |
What the agent tells the buyer
Your answers score 72 out of 100, in the strong band (65 to 100). That is Essentras’s own rule of thumb, not a Google metric: Google publishes no readiness score and decides whether a panel appears.
Your biggest gaps are no Wikipedia article, which a panel does not require, and a Wikidata item without references. You can close every gap yourself for free.
If you want Essentras to do the work, the Individual panel is $650, or $1,395 with a business panel. If Essentras takes you on and the panel does not go live, you get every dollar back; that is a refund, not a promise of a panel. Placements are optional: the fee covers the panel work.
Essentras’s working estimate is 4 to 10 weeks when legitimate coverage already exists, and longer when it starts with none. Google publishes no timeline.
For a company with no independent coverage the score is 11 out of 100: not yet. No service can make a panel appear without sources, so I will not offer a service. Start with the free plan.
The human step
For a strong candidate the buyer opens start_url, reviews the tier and pays on essentras.com. For a not-yet profile service is null, so the agent does not call quote_service.

Rules the agent follows
- Never pays and never collects card data. The job ends at start_url.
- Asks 11 fixed-choice questions, never a name or a link.
- Calls the score a rule of thumb, not a Google metric: Google decides whether a panel appears, so no promise and no date.
- Offers the service only when the checker returns it, free route first.
- Treats paid placements as paid editorial, not independent coverage, and never as a route to Wikipedia notability or Meta verification.
FAQ
Questions about this recipe
Is the readiness score a Google score?▾
No. It is Essentras’s rule of thumb. Google publishes no readiness score or threshold and decides whether a panel appears.
How long does a Knowledge Panel take?▾
The checker returns no date. Essentras’s working estimate is 4 to 10 weeks when legitimate coverage already exists, and longer when it starts with none. Google publishes no timeline.
What does it cost, and what if it does not go live?▾
As returned on 18 Oct 2026: Individual $650, Business $1,200, both panels $1,395. If Essentras takes the buyer on and the panel does not go live, the fee is refunded in full. A refund is not a promise of a panel.
Why does the agent sometimes offer no service?▾
In the not-yet band no service can create a panel without sources, so the checker returns service null and sends the buyer to the free plan first.
