If none of those are close, many monument companies can handle design approvals, 3D proofs, and paperwork remotely, then coordinate installation with a local cemetery. For the closest options, tell me your city and ZIP code, and I can help narrow it down.

You can find headstone providers near you through local monument companies, cemetery-approved dealers, and nationwide memorial suppliers with nearby showrooms. A general search guide notes that local monument companies or stonemasons are the traditional route, and cemeteries may also sell headstones directly through partner companies¹¹.

If you want places from the search results, these providers have physical locations and/or service areas:

• Remembrance Headstones — 20 locations across 10 states, including showrooms in Sacramento, Carmichael, Laguna Woods, and Roseland; they also mention locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Washington, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida¹²³⁶.
• CJ Stones — serves Westchester County, the greater New York area, parts of Connecticut and New Jersey, with appointment-based service in Bedford Village, NY⁸.

If you tell me your city or ZIP code, I can narrow this to the closest providers from the results.

To find headstone (monument) providers in your area, here are the most effective ways to locate them, along with an essential first step:

1. Check with the Cemetery First (Crucial Step)

Before contacting or purchasing from any provider, contact the cemetery where the headstone will be placed.

• Regulations: Almost every cemetery has strict guidelines on headstone size, style (flat bronze marker vs. upright granite monument), color, engraving symbols, and foundation requirements.
• Approved Vendor Lists: Most cemeteries maintain a list of trusted local monument companies that already know their specific rules, paperwork, and installation procedures.

2. Search Online & Map Directories

Open Google Maps, Apple Maps, or a search engine and search for:

• “Monument maker near me”
• “Cemetery monument company near me”
• “Headstone engraver near me”
• “Memorial stone dealer near me”

Tip: Look specifically for independent monument builders or stonecutters rather than third-party resellers, as buying directly from the maker often gives you better customization options and lower prices.

3. Use an Industry Association Directory

If you are in North America, you can search certified dealers through:

• Monument Builders of North America (MBNA): Use their member locator at monumentbuilders.org to find vetted, ethical monument craftsmen who adhere to industry standards.

4. Ask the Funeral Home

If you worked with a local funeral home, they typically have working relationships with local monument companies.

• Note: While convenient, purchasing a headstone directly through a funeral home can sometimes include a middleman markup. Getting a quote from an independent monument shop directly is often more cost-effective.

What to Ask Providers Before Buying:

• 1.Permits & Regulations: Do you handle the cemetery’s approval process and permit fees?
• 2.Installation: Does the quote include delivery, setting the concrete foundation, and final placement?
• 3.Turnaround Time: How many weeks or months will design, proof approval, carving, and setting take? (Standard turnaround is often 6 to 16 weeks, depending on whether the stone is in stock).
• 4.Proofs: Do you provide a full-scale or digital proof of the lettering and design for written approval before carving?

I don't know your specific location, so I can't pull up an exact list of nearby providers — but here are the best ways to find headstone/monument makers close to you:

Quick Ways to Search

1. Online Directories & Review Sites

• Yelp — Search "Headstones" plus your city, and you'll get local listings with reviews, photos, and quote request options. For example, searches for cities like Orlando, Sacramento, Denver, New York, and Los Angeles all pull up multiple local monument companies with ratings and contact info.
• HeadstoneMakers.com —

This site lets you tell them what you need (even just the cemetery and that you need a headstone), then matches you with verified local monument makers who fit your location and style . It features 3,500+ detailed listings across the U.S., including services, cities, cemetery info, and FAQs, and is not owned by any monument company, cemetery, or manufacturer .

2. Google Maps / Google Search Simply search "headstones near me" or "monument company near me" on Google — this usually surfaces local businesses with ratings, phone numbers, and directions instantly based on your device's location.

3. Ask Your Funeral Home or Cemetery Many funeral homes (like those listed on Yelp — e.g., family-owned chapels with decades in business) either make headstones themselves or have trusted partner monument companies they can refer you to. Cemeteries often have an approved vendor list too, which can simplify installation logistics since not all headstone makers work with every cemetery.

4. Local Monument/Granite Companies Many areas have dedicated monument shops (not tied to funeral homes) that specialize only in custom headstones — these are often listed under names like "Memorial Granite," "Monuments," or "Marble & Granite Corp" in local searches, and some even offer design previews, showrooms, and installation handled directly with the cemetery.

Tips When Searching

• Search by your city or ZIP code rather than a broad region for the most relevant local results.
• Check if listings mention "cemetery rules handled for you" — this is helpful since some cemeteries have strict material/size regulations.
• Look for businesses offering free estimates or virtual consultations if you want to compare pricing without visiting multiple shops in person.

If you let me know your city or ZIP code, I can run a more targeted search and pull up specific providers near you.

You can find headstone (monument) providers near you in a few reliable ways. You didn’t include a city or ZIP code, so these are the best starting points—share your location if you want help narrowing it further.

Best places to look

• 1.Monument Builders of North America (MBNA) directory

Search local members at search.monumentbuilders.org. Listed companies are current MBNA members who agree to the association’s Code of Good Practice. In the industry, headstones, tombstones, and memorials are generally called monuments.

• 1.Google Maps or a local search

Search for terms like:

• “monument company near me”
• “headstone makers near me”
• “granite monuments near me”

Check photos of their work, reviews, and whether they handle design, cemetery approval, delivery, and installation.

• 1.The cemetery

Call the cemetery office where the memorial will be placed. Many keep lists of approved or preferred monument companies, and some only allow certain vendors or have strict size, material, and design rules. Starting here avoids problems later.

• 1.Funeral homes

Ask the funeral home that handled (or will handle) arrangements. They usually work with local monument companies regularly and can recommend ones they trust.

• 1.Review sites

Check Google reviews, Yelp, and the Better Business Bureau for local monument or memorial companies. Look for consistent feedback on quality, communication, and installation.

Practical tips

• Local companies often know cemetery rules and can manage installation, which matters more than it might seem.
• Compare a few quotes. Ask what’s included (design proofs, cemetery paperwork, foundation/setting, warranty).
• Granite is the most common durable material; bronze markers are another option some cemeteries allow.
• Online or out-of-area specialists exist and can ship, but confirm the cemetery will accept the memorial and clarify who handles installation.

If you share your city, ZIP code, or the cemetery name, I can help point you toward more specific search steps or directories for that area.

Would you like more details on pricing, specific materials (granite vs. bronze), or companies in a particular region?

Several companies specialize in custom headstones with personalized designs, ranging from affordable online options to high-end bespoke craftsmanship. Most allow custom text, symbols, portraits, artwork, shapes, and finishes, and many provide design proofs before production. These tend to suit more standardized but still personalized flat or upright markers.

Other mentions in industry sources include companies such as Nationwide Monument (template-based design tools plus customization) and various regional makers that ship nationally.

Other Notes

• Local monument dealers are often the most practical choice. Many fabricate or order fully custom work, handle cemetery paperwork, and manage installation. Search for “monument company” or “headstone” plus your city or region.
• UK example: Stoneletters offers hand-carved, fully bespoke headstones in collaboration with clients (higher price point, workshop-based).

Practical Tips

• Request a digital or physical design proof and approve it before any cutting or engraving.
• Compare materials (granite is the most common for durability), engraving methods (sandblast, laser, hand carving), warranties, and whether installation and cemetery fees are included.
• Prices vary widely—from a few hundred dollars for simple personalized flat markers to several thousand (or more) for large custom uprights, sculptures, or complex artwork.
• Ask about lead times, shipping insurance, and who coordinates cemetery approval.

Start with a few companies’ galleries and quote processes, and cross-check recent customer reviews and cemetery compatibility before ordering.

Several reputable companies specialize in custom headstones and personalized memorials, ranging from online design-and-order platforms to artisan sculptors and national monument manufacturers.

• Quiring Monuments: Offers traditional custom stone carving alongside modern features, such as laser-etched photos and "Living Headstones" (monuments fitted with QR codes linking to online memorial pages).

3. Major Quarry Manufacturers & Heritage Brands

These are the industry’s largest stone providers. While you can browse their collections directly, orders are typically placed through their network of local certified monument dealers:

• Rock of Ages: One of North America’s oldest and most prestigious granite memorial producers. Known for quarried Vermont granite and detailed, warrantied custom carvings and upright monuments.
• Coldspring: One of the largest granite and bronze memorial fabricators in North America. They supply cemeteries and local monument builders nationwide with custom cast bronze plaques, specialized granite shapes, and architectural memorials.

Important Tips Before Ordering:

• 1.Check Cemetery Regulations First: Nearly every cemetery has strict guidelines on marker styles (e.g., flat grass markers only vs. uprights), permitted granite colors, dimensions, and foundation fees. Always request the cemetery's written rules before purchasing.
• 2.Review a Digital Proof: Reputable companies will always provide a scaled digital rendering (proof) showing the exact layout, font, spelling, and artwork placement for your approval before engraving begins.
• 3.Delivery and Setting: Confirm whether the company delivers directly to the cemetery and whether the cemetery or a third-party monument installer will handle setting the stone into the ground.

Granite Headstone Providers for Gravesites

Based on the sources available, here are three established granite memorial providers that serve families nationwide, along with what distinguishes each.

Sierra Headstone & Monument

Family-owned in Reno, Nevada, established 1979 — over 47 years in business. They emphasize transparency, publishing their prices rather than hiding them.

Starting prices by style:

• Base prices include a single name, dates, a verse, a catalog design, and standard Sierra White granite
• Photos, laser etching, premium granite colors, vases, and double-sided engraving cost extra
• Prices exclude sales tax and cemetery setting fees
• Nationwide ordering (all 50 states) by phone and email; they ship to your cemetery or its approved installer
• They handle installation themselves throughout Nevada and Northern California
• Nothing goes into production until you approve the final proof (sierraheadstone.com)

Rome Monument

A nationally recognized mausoleum builder and memorial company with over 80 years of experience, operating since 1934 and manufacturing at its Artisan Center in Monaca, Pennsylvania.

Highlights:

• Specializes in high-end memorials: artistic upright monuments, public (civic and military) memorials, and granite mausoleums
• Nationwide delivery, installation, and setting services
• Owns and operates monument setting crane trucks
• Routinely collaborates with cemetery management before delivery and installation
• Normally delivers and installs its own monuments at no charge; in some cases cemetery staff handle setting (cemeteries usually charge a fee for this)
• Also installs memorials and mausoleums on private property
• Deep knowledge of cemetery regulations in the Pittsburgh tri-state area (Southwestern PA, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia) (romemonuments.com)

How to Choose

A few practical notes before ordering:

• Cemetery rules matter most — always confirm what size, material, and style your cemetery permits before finalizing a design.
• Cemetery and permit fees are typically separate from the headstone price, and installation is often quoted separately.
• Timelines vary: in-stock stones can arrive in about 2 weeks, while fully custom work can take up to 6 months after approvals.
• Seeing granite colors and finishes in person can make the final choice easier, so a showroom visit (by appointment) may help if one is nearby.

All three providers ship nationwide, so you aren't limited by geography — but for hands-on installation, verify whether the company installs in your state or ships to a cemetery-approved installer.

When shopping for a granite headstone, the “best” provider depends on whether you prefer to design and order online for lower pricing, buy from a historic quarrier with a lifetime warranty, or work with a local craftsman who handles installation directly.

Here are the most reputable providers across each category, along with key factors to consider:

1. Renowned Manufacturers & Premium Quarriers

These companies quarry and manufacture their own stone, setting the industry benchmark for granite quality:

• Rock of Ages (Barre, Vermont):

Widely regarded as the premier granite headstone manufacturer in North America. Known for its dense, fine-grained Barre Gray granite, Rock of Ages offers a perpetual warranty that guarantees the stone against cracking or discoloration over generations. Their monuments are sold through authorized local dealers nationwide.

• Coldspring:

One of the largest stone fabricators and quarriers in the United States, Coldspring produces headstones, mausoleums, and civic memorials. They offer an extensive range of granite colors and supply many cemeteries and independent monument builders.

2. Top Online Direct-to-Consumer Providers

Online retailers often offer lower prices and interactive 3D design tools. If you buy online, you must verify your cemetery’s rules first and arrange for delivery and installation.

• Signature Headstones:

Known for user-friendly online design tools and transparent pricing. They specialize in flat grass markers, bevels, slants, and traditional uprights, with free shipping to cemeteries or commercial addresses in the continental U.S.

• Legacy Headstones:

A long-standing family-operated online maker. They manufacture stones in-house, cutting out middleman markups, and offer customizable laser-etched and sandblasted granite markers.

• Monuments.com (Quiring Monuments):

Backed by Quiring Monuments, a company operating since the early 1900s. They provide custom uprights, benches, and flat markers, and are known for their customer support and coordination with cemetery superintendents.

• Memorials.com:

One of the largest online memorial marketplaces. They offer a vast catalog ranging from simple flat granite stones to complex upright statuary, and their team assists with cemetery paperwork and approval processes.

3. Local Monument Builders (MBNA Members)

For many families, a local independent monument builder is the best option. You can find accredited builders through the Monument Builders of North America (MBNA) directory (`monumentbuilders.org`).

Why consider a local builder:

• Familiarity with Local Cemetery Rules: They already know the specific size, finish, and foundation requirements of cemeteries in your area.
• Full-Service Installation: They typically pour the concrete foundation, transport the stone, and set it themselves, avoiding third-party delivery issues.
• Physical Inspection: You can visit their display yard to touch the granite, compare colors in natural sunlight, and review physical proofs before carving.

Important Checklist Before You Order

• 1.Get Cemetery Rules in Writing First:

Before placing an order or paying a deposit, contact the cemetery to confirm:

• Permitted style (flat/flush grass marker, bevel, slant, or upright).
• Minimum and maximum dimensions.
• Permitted granite colors (some cemeteries only allow gray or black).
• Edge finishes (sawn, rock-pitched, or beveled).

• 1.Clarify Foundation and Installation Fees:

Most cemeteries require a concrete foundation. Ask if the cemetery pours the foundation or if your monument provider must do it, and find out if the cemetery charges an "inspection" or "setting" fee for stones delivered by third parties.

• 1.Ask About Granite Grade and Porosity:

Higher-density granites (such as Barre Gray, Jet Black, or Dakota Mahogany) absorb less moisture, making them far more resistant to mildew, staining, and freeze-thaw cracking than softer, cheaper imported granites.

The best providers depend on whether you want nationwide ordering, low starting prices, or full-service installation. Based on the results you provided, the strongest options are Remembrance Headstones, Sierra Headstone & Monument, Memorials.com, Rome Monument, and Memory Headstones.¹³⁵

• Remembrance Headstones — strong choice if you want nationwide coverage and a full-service custom process; they say they serve all 50 states, provide a free 3D proof with two revisions, and handle cemetery paperwork and installation scheduling.¹
• Sierra Headstone & Monument — a good option if you want transparent starting prices; they publish base prices starting at $1,100 for flat markers and say they provide nationwide ordering, with installation in Nevada and Northern California.³
• Memorials.com — useful if you want a large online catalog and baseline pricing; their granite headstones start at $1,299.95, and they offer both headstones and grave markers.³¹⁷
• Rome Monument — best suited if you want full-service delivery and installation for higher-end memorials; they state they have provided nationwide monument and mausoleum delivery/installation since 1934.¹
• Memory Headstones — another nationwide custom memorial provider, though the search result gives fewer details than the others.⁵

If your priority is lowest visible starting price, Sierra Headstone & Monument is the clearest match because it publishes a starting price of $1,100 for flat markers.³ If your priority is custom design support and nationwide service, Remembrance Headstones stands out because it explicitly includes the proofing, revisions, delivery, and cemetery coordination process.¹

A few practical notes:

• Memorials.com and Sierra are more price-transparent than many competitors.³¹⁷
• Rome Monument appears especially strong for customers who want installation handled as part of the service.¹
• Some of the other results are more like regional marketing pages than broad provider comparisons, so they are less useful as “best overall” choices.^891011121314

If you want, I can also turn this into a ranked shortlist by budget, quality, or nationwide service.

Based on current industry sources and reviews, here are some of the best-regarded providers for granite headstones, divided into national manufacturers/online retailers and well-known regional companies:

National Manufacturers & Established Brands

Rock of Ages – Started in 1885, this is one of the biggest headstone brands in the United States, known for its high quality granite monuments and a long history of craftsmanship.

They source premium granite directly from their own quarries and offer a lifetime warranty on products, with 100 years of experience.

Peter Troost Monument Company – Peter Troost Company has been making granite headstones, grave markers and monuments since 1889, making them a leader in the industry, and also specializes in bronze cemetery memorials with imported granite and on-site engraving services.

Sun City Granite – Sun City Granite has been a leading brand in custom headstone design and monument workmanship for more than 30 years, offering personalized memorials and compassionate, reliable service to families in need. Customer reviews highlight consistently positive experiences — one reviewer noted "Sun City Granite was amazing to work with to get a memorial done quickly for my loved one... they had so many options to choose from for headstone styles and the pricing was very affordable."

Brown Memorials – From its founding in 1908 until now, it has stood as the Carolinas' top headstone brand and a preeminent maker of beautiful cemetery monuments, personalized headstones and burial markers.

Headstones USA – Offers a large selection of quality headstones in stock at affordable prices, using only the best granite and skilled craftsmen to provide memorials of the highest quality available today.

Regional/Local Standouts

Delphos Granite Works (Ohio) – The largest monument company in northwest Ohio with 35 locations and representatives to serve customers.

Edgewood Monuments – Family-owned since 1975 with over 50 years of experience and third-generation craftsmanship, boasting a 4.9-star average on Google and major review platforms.

Express Monument (California) – A highly reviewed local provider with a 5.0 rating from 196 Google reviews.

Tips for Choosing a Provider

When evaluating any headstone company, industry guidance suggests focusing on a few key criteria: look for a provider that ensures you receive a quality memorial, considering several key criteria that ensure durability and a lasting tribute. Specifically:

• 1.Granite quality –

Make sure the granite used is of the highest quality, inspected for durability and longevity, so the headstone withstands the test of time and maintains its appearance despite weather conditions.

• 1.Experience & craftsmanship –

Consider the provider's experience and craftsmanship track record.

• 1.Cemetery approval assistance – Good providers (like Memorials.com and Headstones USA above) will handle cemetery layout approvals for you.
• 2.Reviews – Check recent Yelp/Google reviews for your local area, since many of the best options are regional monument makers rather than national brands.

My recommendation: For a balance of reputation, quality, and service, **Rock

There is no single best provider for every family. The right choice depends on whether you prioritize premium domestic quarry stone and local installation, or lower cost and online convenience. Cemetery rules (size, style, foundation, and approval) usually matter more than the brand, so confirm those first.

Premium quarry brand (sold through dealers)

Rock of Ages (rockofages.com) is the best-known premium option in North America. It has quarried and manufactured monuments since 1885, mainly in Vermont, and is widely regarded as a top source of monument-grade granite (including Barre / Blue Gray and related colors). Genuine Rock of Ages memorials carry a SEALMARK and a perpetual warranty against defects such as cracking or discoloration; they are sold only through authorized local dealers who design, fabricate (or coordinate fabrication), and usually handle cemetery compliance and installation. Prices are higher than typical online options—flat markers often in the roughly $1,000–$2,000 range and uprights commonly several thousand dollars, varying by size, color, and carving. This is the strongest choice when long-term material assurance and local accountability matter most.

Strongly reviewed online direct sellers

These companies are frequently chosen for value on flat markers and many standard uprights. Engraving and shipping are often included; installation is usually separate and arranged locally or through the cemetery.

• Legacy Headstones (legacyheadstones.com) — Among the highest-volume online sellers, with a Trustpilot score around 4.8 from more than 11,000 reviews. It describes itself as a long-running family operation (Steckman’s Memorials, East Liverpool, Ohio), offers a lifetime guarantee on granite and engraving, free shipping in the lower 48, and online design tools with proofs. Customers commonly praise quality relative to price versus local dealers. BBB records show a modest number of complaints relative to volume, so read recent feedback and lock in a written proof before production.
• Markers & Headstones Co. (markersandheadstones.com) — Trustpilot around 4.9 from roughly 2,800 reviews. Frequently noted for affordable custom granite markers, straightforward online ordering, and responsive service.

Other online names (Capital Grave Markers, Express Monument, Remembrance Headstones, and similar) also show high recent review scores, but with smaller review volumes. Compare current pricing, granite thickness/grade, proof process, and shipping protection rather than relying on marketing rankings.

Local monument companies

For upright monuments, custom carving, or any job where installation and cemetery rules are complex, a reputable local monument dealer is often the practical best choice. They know regional cemetery requirements, can show stone samples, and stand behind setting the stone. Long-established examples include firms such as Davis Monuments (Boston area, operating since 1862). Search the Monument Builders of North America directory or local BBB listings for members near the cemetery, and ask whether they are an authorized Rock of Ages dealer if you want that specific stone and warranty.

Practical buying notes

• Get the cemetery’s written rules before ordering. Some reject thin markers, certain imports, or stones not set by approved installers.
• Compare total cost: stone, engraving, shipping, foundation, and setting. Online prices can be substantially lower for simple flat markers; local quotes often include more of the finished installation.
• Require a design proof and a clear warranty in writing. Ask about granite origin and grade—monument-grade North American stone (especially Rock of Ages SEALMARK) is the traditional high end; many online stones use imported granite that can still be durable but varies in quality and warranty strength.
• Confirm damage, rejection, and correction policies before you pay.

For a lasting family monument where budget allows, start with a Rock of Ages authorized dealer. For a well-reviewed, lower-cost granite marker with nationwide shipping, Legacy Headstones and Markers & Headstones are among the most consistently praised online options—then arrange professional installation that meets cemetery standards.
