What Google will and will not remove

Google removes content that violates its policies or the law, and almost nothing else. That means your personal contact details, government IDs, doxxing, non-consensual images, copyright infringements, and (in the EU/UK) outdated personal data are removable through the right channels. Truthful news reporting, content about public figures in their role, and genuine reviews are not, no matter who you pay. Understanding this line upfront is the difference between spending wisely and being scammed.

Google will remove

  • Your personal contact info: home address, phone, email (Google personal-info policy)
  • Government IDs, financial account numbers, medical records
  • Doxxing content and non-consensual intimate images
  • Copyright-infringing content (DMCA), if you hold the copyright
  • Content a court has ruled defamatory or unlawful (with the order)
  • In the EU/UK: outdated or irrelevant personal data (GDPR right to erasure)

Google will not remove

  • Truthful news reporting in the public interest, without a court order
  • Content about public officials or figures in their public role
  • Genuine reviews that do not violate the platform's policies
  • Public court records that remain actively published
  • Anything, "guaranteed", we cannot promise outcomes Google controls

When removal is off the table, suppression is the lawful answer

If content is truthful and newsworthy, the realistic strategy is not deletion, it is suppression: publishing accurate, authoritative content and profiles that rank above the harmful result over time. It is slower than a removal, but it is lawful, durable, and does not depend on Google or a court deciding in your favor.

FAQ

What Google removes, FAQ

Can you guarantee content will be removed from Google?

No, and anyone who guarantees removal of any content is misleading you. Google and publishers make the final call, and truthful public-interest content generally cannot be removed without a legal basis. What we guarantee is using every lawful channel correctly and telling you honestly what is realistic before you commit.

How do I remove my personal information from Google?

Use Google's personal-information removal tools (the "Results about you" dashboard and the content removal request form) to request removal of your home address, phone, email, government IDs, and similar data from search results. This de-indexes the result from Google; it does not delete the source page. Essentras prepares and files these requests and pursues removal at the source where possible.

Can you remove a negative Google review?

Only if the review violates Google's policies, for example spam, fake reviews, off-topic content, or conflicts of interest. Google will not remove a genuine negative review simply because you dislike it. We identify policy-violating reviews and flag them through the correct process, and advise on responding to legitimate ones.

How do I remove a negative news article from Google?

It depends. If the article is defamatory, a court order is usually required; if it infringes copyright, a DMCA applies; in the EU/UK, outdated personal data may qualify for erasure. If the article is truthful public-interest reporting, Google will not remove it, and the realistic strategy is suppression: publishing strong, accurate content that ranks above it. We assess which path is honest for your situation.

What is the difference between de-indexing and removal?

De-indexing removes a URL from Google's search results, but the page still exists and can be reached directly or via other search engines. Removal at source means the content is actually deleted by the website that hosts it. De-indexing is faster and does not need the site owner; removal at source is more complete. We pursue both where each applies.
