How to get your brand on Apple News
Apple News is a platform for professional publications of a journalistic nature, and Apple says it is not for publications that mainly promote a business. A brand gets there through coverage by a publisher in Apple News, Apple's ads, or a paid placement: on Essentras, an article syndicated from Grit Daily costs $1,500, live in 3 to 5 business days.

The mechanics
How does content get into Apple News?
Through publishers' channels. Apple approves publications that publish in Apple News Format, its editors pick the Top Stories, and algorithms suggest the rest.
Channels, not submissions
Everything in Apple News comes from a publisher's channel. Apple says most of a channel's articles must be original content created by its own newsroom, and wire copy must be marked as syndicated.
Editors and algorithms
Apple says experienced Apple News editors curate the day's top stories from trusted sources, and algorithms help readers discover the rest. A publisher can flag an article as a candidate to be featured; editors decide.
Applications may be closed
Apple's pages give no review time. A developer forum post in April 2025 quoted Apple support saying Apple News no longer accepts unsolicited applications, and LINA, an Australian publishers' association, says access is by invitation. Apple's own pages do not say so.
Ads are Apple's own product
Apple Ads sells sponsored content ads that take readers to a brand's content inside Apple News, marked "Sponsored", and since 14 Apr 2026 feed takeovers for topics such as entertainment, sports and fashion. Only advertisers in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia are eligible; Taboola is Apple's listed reseller.
What publishers earn
Apple says publishers keep 100% of ads they sell in their channel, 70% of ads Apple fills there, and 50% of pooled ad revenue if they opt in. Apple News+ costs $12.99 a month.
Your own channel
Can a brand publish its own Apple News channel?
Not as a brand. Apple says Apple News is not intended for publications that primarily promote a business, service or nonprofit. A company that runs a real newsroom, with original reporting and an editorial process, can apply as a publisher.
- Professional publications of a journalistic nature in Australia, Canada, the UK or the US.
- Channels whose articles are mostly original work by their own newsroom.
- Apple News Format, published through News Publisher or the Apple News API.
- Sponsored articles, when the channel marks them as sponsored.
- A publication that mainly promotes a business, service or nonprofit.
- A personal blog, or a site that mainly reposts others' content.
- An RSS feed as your format in those 4 countries: News Publisher takes Apple News Format.
- Unmarked sponsored content: Apple says such channels may be suspended.
If you are a publisher
Apple asks for information about your publication and samples of your content, and may ask about your editorial mission, review process and policies. You sign in to News Publisher in iCloud with an Apple Account that has two-factor authentication. To sell ads in your channel you also need the Apple Developer Program, $99 a year, and organizations need a D-U-N-S Number to enroll.
Apple's pages give no review time and no appeal process, and reports since 2024 say unsolicited applications are not being taken. Plan for the chance that yours is not reviewed, and earn coverage in the meantime.
Routes and prices
Which routes put your brand on Apple News, and what does each cost?
Coverage by a publication in Apple News costs nothing and promises nothing. Apple sells its ads directly, with no public price. On Essentras, 2 listings reach Apple News: Grit Daily syndication at $1,500 and Green Matters at $1,667 (read 19 Oct 2026).
| Route | What it costs | Time to go live | What the reader sees | Who decides |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coverage by a publication in Apple News | $0 | No date: the editor decides | An article by that publication, in its channel | The publication's editor; Apple's editors for Top Stories |
| Your own channel (publishers only) | $0 to apply; $99 a year for the Developer Program to sell ads | No review time stated by Apple | Your publication's name and logo | Apple, which reviews every channel |
| Apple Ads in Apple News | No public price; sold by Apple and Taboola | When your campaign runs | "Sponsored" on sponsored content ads; "Ad" on others | Apple's ad system and your budget |
| Essentras: Apple News, syndicated from Grit Daily | $1,500 | 3 to 5 business days | "Published as a standard editorial article, with no sponsored label." | You order it by name and approve the draft; Grit Daily's channel carries it |
| Essentras: Green Matters, syndicates with MSN and Apple News | $1,667 | 1 to 3 business days | "Published as a standard editorial article, with no sponsored label." | You order it by name and approve the draft |
| Press release services that name Apple News | From $21 (IssueWire) to $599 (Presscart) | The vendor's word | Not stated on the pages we read | The vendor, and the channel that carries it |
- Vendor wording, read 19 Oct 2026: PressRelease.com says "publication of your press release on Apple News is guaranteed" ($179 per release); Presscart sells "A paid article on an Apple News publisher" ($599); ReleasePR lists Apple News among news aggregators ($345, 1 release, Influence tier). IssueWire lists "Apple News inclusion" from $21 (read 16 Oct 2026).
- None of those pages names the channel that carries the release or a sponsored label. Ask which channel it is, with the questions template below.

Label, link and proof
What does a paid placement on Apple News look like?
It runs in the publisher's channel, under the publisher's name. Apple's rule is that channels must mark sponsored content.
The label
The Grit Daily listing states: "Published as a standard editorial article, with no sponsored label." Apple says channels must mark sponsored content as such, or may be suspended. It is a paid placement: say so when you share it.
Where it lives
An article from Grit Daily, syndicated into its Apple News channel, per the listing. Apple News links open at apple.news, the address our live examples resolve to.
The link
Nofollow, per the listing. Its value is readers in the News app, not link credit.
Search
It is not indexed, per the listing. Count on readers in the News app, not on Google search, for this placement.
How long it stays
The listing's terms do not promise the syndication lasts forever. If the publisher removes it within 90 days, Essentras gives a free re-placement or a full refund.
Green Matters
The other listing publishes on greenmatters.com, which the listing says syndicates with MSN and Apple News: dofollow, indexed: yes, with the label "Published as a standard editorial article, with no sponsored label."
Proof: open placements we have published
Apple News is in the row of outlets with delivered client articles on our Get Featured page ("Client articles we have published: 31 placements across 11 outlets", read 19 Oct 2026). The listing page shows live examples you can open in Apple News, with the client names left out.
Step by step
How to get your brand on Apple News in 5 steps
1. Decide what you need
An article in Apple News by a date, coverage an editor chooses, Apple's ads, or your own channel if you are a publisher. Only the article and the ads can be bought.
2. Check the channel before you pay
Ask which publication's channel carries the article, and for recent apple.news links, using the questions template below.
3. Write it as an article
News, data or a guide, with a clear headline and an image you have the rights to. You approve the draft before it goes live.
4. Order before your date
The Grit Daily listing runs 3 to 5 business days and Green Matters 1 to 3 business days, paused while we wait on you.
5. Open it in the News app and keep proof
Check the link on an Apple device, save the URL and a screenshot, and describe it as a paid placement. Essentras sends both on delivery.
When to order to be live by your date
Pick the date the article must be live. The table shows the latest day to start, from each route's stated time.
| Route | Window | If you start today | To be live by your date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentras: Apple News, syndicated from Grit Daily | 3 to 5 business days, per the listing. | ||
| Essentras: Green Matters | 1 to 3 business days, per the listing. | ||
| Your own channel | No date: Apple gives no review time. | No date can be promised | No date can be promised |
| Pitching an editor | No date: the editor decides. | No date can be promised | No date can be promised |
Pick a date to see the latest day to start. Business days are Monday to Friday. Public holidays are not counted, so allow for them.
Essentras windows are business days, paused while we wait on you, with a 3 business day grace period before the automatic refund.

Avoid
Mistakes that waste an Apple News placement
Applying as a brand
Apple says Apple News is not for publications that mainly promote a business. Earn coverage or place an article instead.
Following old RSS guides
Many guides still say to submit an RSS feed. News Publisher takes Apple News Format.
Calling it "featured by Apple News"
Apple's editors pick Top Stories. A placement is an article in a publisher's channel; say so.
Mixing up Apple News and Apple News+
Apple News+ is Apple's $12.99 a month subscription. Apple documents no way for a brand to get into it.
Buying "guaranteed Apple News" blind
Ask which channel carries it and how it is labeled, before you pay.
Expecting Google traffic
The Grit Daily listing is nofollow and not indexed. Its value is readers in the News app.
Using images without rights
An image you cannot license can hold up publication. Send an image you own or have licensed.
Ordering too late
Order at least 5 business days before your date.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can a brand publish on Apple News?▾
Not as a brand channel. Apple says Apple News is for professional publications of a journalistic nature, not for publications that primarily promote a business, service or nonprofit. Brands reach it through coverage, Apple's ads or a placement in a publisher's channel.
How do I become an Apple News publisher?▾
Submit information about your publication and samples of your content to the Apple News team, then publish in Apple News Format through News Publisher, with an Apple Account that has two-factor authentication. Apple gives no review time.
Is Apple News still accepting new publishers?▾
Apple's pages do not say. A developer forum post in April 2025 quoted Apple support saying it no longer accepts unsolicited applications, and LINA, an Australian publishers' association, says access is by invitation.
Can I submit an RSS feed to Apple News?▾
Not as a publisher in Australia, Canada, the UK or the US: News Publisher takes Apple News Format. Apple's program page reserves RSS for publishers outside those regions that do not use Apple News Format.
How much does it cost to get on Apple News?▾
Coverage and applying cost nothing. On Essentras, an article syndicated from Grit Daily costs $1,500 and Green Matters $1,667 (read 19 Oct 2026). Apple's ads have no public price.
Is a paid article on Apple News labeled as sponsored?▾
Apple says channels must mark sponsored content. The Grit Daily listing states: "Published as a standard editorial article, with no sponsored label." It is a paid placement, so describe it as paid.
How do stories get into Apple News Top Stories?▾
Apple News editors select them, and Apple says Top Stories look the same for everyone. Publishers can flag an article as a candidate; no route sells a place.
Can I advertise on Apple News?▾
Yes, through Apple Ads: sponsored content ads marked "Sponsored", other ads marked "Ad", and since April 2026 feed takeovers. Only advertisers in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia are eligible; Apple and Taboola sell them.
Does an Apple News placement help SEO?▾
Not much on its own: the Grit Daily listing is nofollow and not indexed. Its value is readers in the News app.
Can I see examples before I buy?▾
Yes. The Apple News listing page shows live examples we have published, with the client names left out, and Apple News is in our Get Featured track record.
